In
December of 2005, the Taum Sauk Reservoir located in southern
Missouri collapsed releasing a billion-gallon torrent of water
in only twenty minutes that swept away and destroyed acres
of parkland in the Johnson Shut-ins and spoiled the Black
River. soil-tek of Mid America was contracted to install over
3330 feet of twenty-four inch Filtrexx Filtersoxx for perimeter
protection during the construction process of a road necessary
for the restoration project to proceed. Twelve inch Filtrexx
Filtersoxx was also installed to contain a waste pile and
prevent any type of storm water contamination. The original
specs called for the use of sandbags and silt fence, however
the entire surface consists of rock. Silt fence and sandbags
would have been useless to the client. Filtrexx Filtersoxx
was the only viable solution for this particular project.
